Who founded eVidyaloka?
eVidyaloka was founded in January 2011, by co-founders Satish and Venkat, colleagues at Microsoft India, with the passion to bring volunteerism and technology together, to enable quality education for the most deserving children of remote and rural villages of India
How many states does eVidyaloka operate in?
14. We offer digital education to schools in the States of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan, Assam.

Can I receive a tax benefit for my donation to eVidyaloka?
Certainly! As an Indian citizen or eligible organization, your donation is exempt from tax under Section 80G. Upon donating in INR, you'll receive a meticulous 80G receipt via email. Please ensure to provide your full name as per PAN, phone number, email ID, address, and PAN details to facilitate the issuance of your donation receipt. Your support empowers education and offers tax savings.
Is there an option to support eVidyaloka with a recurring donation?
Yes, indeed! For those who wish to extend their support consistently, we've introduced a convenient monthly donation feature through Give.do. Your ongoing contributions are the backbone that sustains our educational programs.

What channels are available for communication with eVidyaloka?
Can I receive information about the specific child I am supporting through eVidyaloka?
While we deeply value transparency and the personal connection you might seek, we are committed to protecting the privacy and data of the children in our programs. We are unable to provide personal details of individual children, but rest assured, your donation is pooled to effectively support the comprehensive educational needs of that rural child within our programs throughout the year.

Is there a recommended donation amount?
We welcome donations of all sizes, each one contributing to our mission. There's no upper limit to how much you can give, but we suggest a minimum of INR 100 to cover transaction fees for online donations. For monthly donations through Give.do, we recommend a starting point of INR 500.
What details do you collect from donors?
For issuing an 80G tax receipt and to keep you updated on the impact of your generosity, we require your.
These details also help us communicate effectively with you. While we do collect additional information, it is entirely at your discretion to provide this, and it is used solely for enhancing our communication. We ensure your personal details are kept confidential and are not shared externally.
Is GST applicable when donating under my company's name?
Donations made to eVidyaloka Trust are not subject to GST, regardless of whether the donation is made in an individual’s name or in the name of a company. GST is a tax levied on goods and services and does not apply to charitable contributions. Thus, when you choose to donate under your company's name, you can be assured that the entire amount goes towards our mission without any additional tax burden.
What is the policy on refunding donations?
We handle donations with the utmost respect for the donor’s intentions and, as such, generally consider donations to be non-refundable. This ensures that the funds are committed to and utilised for the educational programs as planned. However, in the rare instance that a donation needs to be reviewed for a refund, we encourage donors to contact us directly at donate@evidyaloka.org to discuss the specific circumstances. Our team will assist you through the process and provide support on a case-by-case basis.
How can I enroll as a volunteer with eVidyaloka?
What are the minimum digital infrastructure requirements to teach in eVidyaloka?
A laptop with a camera and good internet connectivity (minimum 1 MB Speed).
Are there any minimum educational qualification requirements?
While educational qualification is not mandatory, Graduation in the respective subject is desirable
When do such online sessions happen?
Mondays to Fridays. Indian school timings typically between 9.30 am to 4 pm.
What subjects can I teach?
How many sessions can I take in a week?
eVidyaloka requires a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week.
How many hours are these sessions?
Between 40 to 60 minutes per session
Can I take classes in Hindi/regional languages?
Currently we teach students studying in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Oriya, Bengali and Gujarati medium. We are working towards adding a few other regional languages in the near future. We expect Volunteers to be able to read/write/speak vernacular languages.
Will you give materials to teach?
Yes. Digital text-book links, lesson plans etc.
For which grades do I need to take classes?
Any of 5th Standard to 10th Standard
Will there be any training sessions for using online teaching?
Yes. There will be orientation for Volunteers.
Will I be able to take more than 1 subject?
Yes. We suggest you begin with one subject and then move on to multiple offerings from 2nd term/2nd year.
What are the records I need to keep for the classes I took?
Class attendance and class completed/canceled details on eVidyaloka system, which the volunteer will need to input.
Is there any App to update the sessions I took?
I am retired. Can I volunteer?
Yes. We do not have any upper age restrictions. Minimum age limit is 18 years.
Do I need to physically visit the school on a regular basis?
No. At your option, we encourage Volunteers to visit the school at least once, in coordination with the eVidyaloka Team.
Can I use ‘volunteering in eVidyaloka’ on my social media platforms?
Yes, in the role of a Volunteer
Am I allowed to post pictures of classes on social media platforms?
Yes, you can use appropriate pictures without breaching any privacy concerns.
Can I withdraw my volunteering service at any time?
Once classes starts, volunteer need to continue teaching for at least until the completion of the academic term i.e. min 3 months.
I am acting as a Volunteer in another NGO. Can I volunteer in eVidyaloka?
YES
Whose responsibility to monitor the quality of internet connectivity?
Class Assistants and Field Coordinators, who are part of eVidyaloka set up.
Who will monitor if the students are listening or not during my online classes?
Class Assistant.
What do I need to do, if I am unable to take classes on a particular day due to unavoidable and unforeseen circumstances?
If you are not able to take the classes on any particular day, keep the class assistant informed in advance and give some study material/video resources to the class assistant, to enable students are engaged in learning when you are not present.
I am working with a Corporate who is funding your programs. Would it be a conflict to volunteer?
No.
I am living outside India. Can I volunteer?
Yes. Non Resident Indians can Volunteer.

Do the Volunteers have a community platform?
~ Yes, all active Volunteers have provided access to a Community server in Discord App. The name of the server is ‘eVidyaloka eVolve’
~ The server provides a platform to exchange ideas and share your experiences with fellow volunteers to learn from senior volunteers
~ eVidyaloka also provides a repository of resources, which can be used for your online teaching
